This summer
is too hot, so we decided to find the best Bing Su near Ewha University and Sin
Chon. There are so many cafés that sell the delicious Bing Su. We experienced
some best-selling Bing Su directly, Strawberry, various kinds of fruits, Oreo, Dutch Coffee, and Original Bing Su
and so on. We wanted to
choose the excellent Bing Su, which has a lot of quantities, reasonable price, and
good taste. Finally, we selected the best three places.
Location: Near Sinchon
train station, go straight down to U-PLEX
Ho Mil Bat is very popular, so we usually have to wait 15-20 minutes to order. Although the waiting time is required, its’ Bing Su’s taste makes it worth it. The menu includes many varieties such as, Milk Bing Su, Green Tea Bing Su, Strawberry Bing Su, Fruit Bing Su, Watermelon Bing Su, etc. The unique feature of Ho Mil Bat Bing Su has separated ingredients and the topping is like red bean and rice cake. Also, Ho Mil Bat provides refills of red bean and rice cake. Another distinctive feature is the fine ice, which is like ice flower. So, we can’t feel the grains of ice. Overall, it’s very soft, so when we have one spoon full, it melts in our mouths gently. At first sight, it does not seem to have enough toppings or quantities, but it is enough. The prices are from 5,500 won to 7,000 won.

This Bing Su’s price is originally 12,000 won. If you bring a student card to this shop, you will get a 10% discount, so we ate ours for 10,800 won. It consists of ground milk ice, fruits (slice five pieces of banana, kiwi, apple, grape, and pineapple), and condensed milk. Additionally, the Bing Su comes with a side order of milk, red bean sauce, and square cake made from glutinous rice. When we ate, we felt very fresh. However it was watery Bing Su, so we had to put in half of the red bean sauce.
Bing Su has become the Golden ice dessert of Korea. However, most people who make Bing Su do not have chef qualifications, and they are not specialists but just part-timers. We do not understand the high price of Bing Su and feel that about 3,000 won is more appropriate, when we calculated the material cost. But despite the cost, Bing Su is a very refreshing treat.
